These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of ShelvedUp (“the app”), provided by Boxed Up. By downloading, creating an account on, or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
ShelvedUp is a personal collection tracker for movies and music. You scan barcodes or search by title to catalogue the discs and records you own, see which editions of a title exist, check whether you already own something before buying it, and read and write reviews. The app is an informational and organisational tool.
You need an account to use the app. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You can permanently delete your account and its data at any time from the account menu inside the app.
ShelvedUp lets you write ratings and reviews that other users can see. You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you grant Boxed Up a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute that content within the app for the purpose of operating the service.
You are solely responsible for the content you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on ShelvedUp. You agree not to post content that:
You can report a review you believe breaks these rules using the report control on that review, and you can block another user so that their content no longer appears to you. We review reports and aim to act on them within 24 hours, and we may remove content and suspend or permanently remove the accounts of users who violate these rules, with or without notice. We may also remove content or restrict accounts where we are required to by law.
You agree to use ShelvedUp only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to misuse, reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, or disrupt the app or its related services, not to attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users’ data, and not to use automated means to submit scans, searches, or reviews at a volume that degrades the service for others.
When you scan an item, non-personal facts about that release — such as the barcode, format, and edition name — may be added to a shared catalogue that benefits all users. This catalogue data is not personal to you and remains part of the service, including after you delete your account.
ShelvedUp may display estimated values for items in your collection, derived from third-party listing data. These figures are rough estimates for general information only. They are not appraisals, offers to buy or sell, or guarantees of resale price, and they may be inaccurate, out of date, or unavailable. Do not rely on them for insurance, tax, sale, or investment decisions. Any decision you make to buy or sell an item is yours alone.
The app displays metadata, artwork, and pricing information from third parties including TMDB, UPCitemdb, Apple, MusicBrainz, the Cover Art Archive, and eBay, and may link out to third-party sites. We do not control that information and do not warrant its accuracy. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Your use of any third-party site is governed by that site’s own terms.
ShelvedUp is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features or subscriptions in future, the applicable pricing and billing terms will be presented to you clearly before you are charged, and purchases made through the App Store will be processed by Apple under its terms.
The app, including its design, software, and branding, is owned by Boxed Up and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app under these Terms.
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that item identification will always be correct, or that catalogue, edition, or value information will be accurate or complete.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Boxed Up will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on item identification, edition data, or estimated values. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
We may update these Terms as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date, and continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
